Industry Recognition

GS1 Canada recognizes Alain for his outstanding contribution to the promotion of Healthcare Supply Chain Efficiency in Canada.

Alicia Duval, Senior Vice President Healthcare, Pharmacy & Public Affairs and Rita Laur, Director, Standards of GS1 Canada presented Alain with a recognition award for his leadership and contributions as Co-Chair of the Healthcare Product Description Standardization Work Group.

The group composed of over 30 representatives in the industry was created to help address the lack of standards for short product descriptions.   This weakness in the Healthcare Supply Chain creates a risk to patient safety, reduces service levels and brings additional costs to Canada’s Healthcare System.  The standards developed will contribute greatly to address these issues by helping suppliers and providers exchange accurate product data.  Early adoption of the standards by several organizations in Canada is showing the positive impact this will have on our Healthcare Supply Chain.
